Historical and naturalistic walks in Sirmione

In Sirmione, architecture and natural beauty coexist in perfect harmony, giving rise to a series of fascinating routes that can be explored on foot through the historic town centre and the neighbourhoods of Colombare and Lugana; you can explore, both to get to know these places from an architectural and historical point of view, and to do sport, walking or running.

Each step offers no end of amazing views of Lake Garda that make these walks truly memorable.

The old town

A walk through the streets of the historic town centre on the tip of Sirmione peninsula allows you to visit many local places of interest including the Roman remains of the Grottoes of Catullus, the early medieval remains of the Church of San Salvatore, the Scaligero Castle and Villa Callas,  where the Divina opera singer stayed.

You can explore sacred buildings and noble residences, in the charm of the old town, as described in the map below.

Walking around Sirmione

Sirmione is ideal for walking itineraries. The peninsula is surrounded by the lake on three sides so it is ideal for enjoying the lake’s beauty on foot, by walking in nature, along the beaches, through the many parks and in the old town and Colombare and Lugana neighbourhoods.

By following the routes suggested on the map you can transform your holiday into a regenerating break immersed in a delightful green landscape.

Running in Sirmione

Sirmione has a beautiful route along the peninsula, away from the cars, for runners to enjoy.

It is an easy route, with only one climb; the one that leads to the Grottoes of Catullus and the Church of San Pietro in Mavino. As you can see on the map, apart from the section inside the old town centre, the route is the same both ways.

If it is too long, the route can be shortened (or started) from Galeazzi beach.
