Let’s take a closer look at the Tour Eiffel, with a journey upwards to the most visited monument in the world, an unmistakable symbol of Paris.

Since its construction in 1889, more than 250 million people have visited the famous Tour Eiffel in Paris.

Architectural prowess for those times, the Tour Eiffel was the first monument in the world designed to reach the symbolic height of 304 meters. The “Grande Dame de Fer” has remained the tallest monument in the world for more than 40 years (a title that today belongs to the Burj Khalifa in Dubai) and remains the most visited monument in the world.

Thus named after its designer, the engineer Gustave Eiffel, the Eiffel Tower was built in less than two years, from 1887 to 1889, on the occasion of the “Exposition Universelle” with the aim of commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution: beyond 300 meters high, 3 floors, 8000 tons of iron.

Google Maps has followed in the footsteps of 7 million visitors a year of the Tour Eiffel
